- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆SELLERS BEWARE!!! This supposedly qualified appraiser cost us the sale of our home with his ridiculously low appraisal. The potential buyer was a cash buyer and chose Donnie to conduct the appraisal. I don't know if they were in cahoots or not, but Donnie's appraisal came in an UNBELIEVABLE $112,500 below our agreed upon sales price! We were flabbergasted and immediately agreed to pay for a 2nd appraisal. The 2nd appraisal not only justified our agreed upon sale price, but also our list price. The 2nd appraisal came in a whopping $190,000 more than Donnie's appraisal!!! The buyer was either in cahoots with Donnie or was simply spooked by the unbelievably different appraised values and decided to walk. Upon viewing Donnie's appraisal, we realized that he had used ridiculous comps. We confronted Donnie about the poor comps, and in his brief conversation before hanging up, he stated that he basically assigns very little value to land and views!!! Since our home is marsh front, and we only purchased the home because of the beautiful backyard and sunsets, that's an enormous problem!!! We gave serous thought to seeking legal action against him, but we decided our legal expense and effort would not be worth pursuing a lawsuit. However IF YOU ARE A SELLER, INSIST ON SOMEONE OTHER THAN THIS APPRAISER!!!!By Kim Patrick, March 09, 2017
